Modern Casual Pants❣️
That aren't jeans! 🗞️
Hi Shortie,
How’s it going? Lately, I’ve been reading faster than ever—all in the name of crafting the petite perfect personal styling service. Five books down and twenty to go!
Personal styling books take various approaches. Some focus on aesthetics, while others take a problem-solving angle. I’ve noticed that an author’s relationship with fashion directly shapes the kind of book they write.
Those who’ve struggled tend to offer the most practical advice, while authors who align with conventional beauty standards often write books centered on aesthetics. However, they all share a common goal: getting their readers to look good and feel even better.
Our style journey as short women is uniquely complex. I’m determined to create a service that prioritizes our challenges—those we share and those exclusive to our one-of-a-kind figures.
While aesthetics are inherently a part of personal style, the trend cycle has accelerated to the point that nothing seems out of fashion. Take jeans styles, for example. Baggy jeans finally went mainstream, skinny jeans are cementing their return with early adopters, and flared jeans are starting to get long-overdue recognition.
I aim to develop a service universally applicable to Shorties, no matter how you define your style. I have a theory. Let’s see if I’m right.
Sincerely short,
Lwany

P.S. What’s your current favorite jean cut?❣️
Conformity is the only real fashion crime. To not dress like yourself and to sublimate your spirit to some kind of group identity is succumbing to fashion fascism.
SHORT QUESTION
Q: Any suggestions for casual pants that aren’t jeans but still look modern and updated?
I don’t mind a high rise, but I’m short-waisted, so many styles end up being too long in the stride. Thank you!

A: Great question! I recently had to troubleshoot this for myself.
Winter only just arrived here in Southern California, and after a recent closet edit, I realized I had a huge wardrobe gap—casual pants I could wear without heels. Here’s what I found, ranked from dressiest to most casual:
Front-Slit Pants: I didn’t think much of this style until I saw them on my mom! They’re often styled dressy with stilettos or sleek boots, but for a casual look, pair them with flats. I prefer a floor-skimming length, but for a shorter inseam, check out the ankle-length version by petite-exclusive brand Nelle Atelier.
Petites Fletcher Pant
$158.00
Plissé / Crinkled Pants: These pants, reminiscent of Issey Miyake’s iconic Pleats Please, feature subtle vertical lines that elongate. The elastic waistband makes it easy to adjust the length.
Woven Plissé Wide-Leg Pant
$188.00 $127.20
Lightweight Silky Drawstring Pants: With this laid-back style, choosing a luxurious silk or a similarly refined fabric is the key to avoiding a sloppy look.
Petite Stratus Pant in Texture Satin
$148.00 $119.50
Track-Inspired Pants: I’m obsessed with this elevated take on an athletic classic. They’re as comfortable as they are cool!
Petite Wide-Leg Drawstring Trousers
$245.00
Stirrup leggings: Think of these as leggings’ chic cousin! Stylish Shortie Shay opted for an activewear pair, but I prefer a pair without printed logos or a horizontal waistband seam.
