My Top Difficulties ❣️
Coming clean about the category I find the most challenging! 🗞️
Hi Shortie,
The last time I wrote to you, New York Fashion Week was in full swing, and Paris Fashion Week, the last of them all kicked off on Monday. Time truly does fly.
I’ve been waiting to be at a good spot with content before working on the petite brand directory. Last week, I gave up on that idea and finally started!
I couldn't wait any longer. I realized that things won't settle down; if anything, they'll get more hectic. Prioritizing will be vital in moving things forward.
From now on, I will devote the first two hours of my workday to longer-term projects. I'm sure I'll have to work out some kinks and inevitably drop the ball occasionally.
For example, my posting schedule has been all over the place, and last week, I didn’t send a newsletter issue. As always, I’m grateful for your continued understanding!
Sincerely short,
Lwany

P.S. Progress over perfection – right?❣️
Fashion is a religion in one sense.
SHORT QUESTION
Cute Tops
Dear Lwany,
What are your favorite brands for cute tops/t-shirts that are fitted but not too cropped?
x,
Shortie
Shortie, you're forcing me to come clean about a few things!
I don't have a favorite brand. Reformation used to have my unwavering support for their petite sizing and commitment to sustainability. But in recent years, I've become pretty disillusioned with them.
While they still have a petite range, they haven't done a petite campaign (photoshoot) in a long time. And their quality has taken a dive.
I wish I had go-to brands! I do most of my shopping at thrift stores and flea markets. I'll buy items retail once in a while. I fully realize this makes me a pretty terrible creator by today’s standards.
I won't lie, tops are the one category I struggle with the most. In large part because I have a wide torso, broad shoulders, and a proportionately full bust.
Conceptually, fitted and crop tops would be key to styling a well-balanced outfit for my short stature. In reality, most of these styles tend to highlight the widest part of my top half, and I don't always feel comfortable showing off my midriff.
I suggest shopping at places geared towards a younger market, like Urban Outfitters, or brands from Asia, like Uniqlo or Zemeta. Both categories' sizing will be shorter, making them more petite-friendly.
I'm not sure if you'll find this helpful, but I can always count on fitted turtlenecks made out of stretch fabrics to elevate my outfit, literally and figuratively. Visually, the extended neckline elongates my torso. Not having to deal with excess material lengthwise is also practical and makes for a streamlined look.
