A new take on balancing wide-leg pants 🗞️

Hi Shortie,

How are you? I can hardly believe we’re already in the last week of January. This year has been an intense one for me. As you know, I was focused and determined to make progress last week, but life had other plans—it threw me yet another curveball.

A nearby fire, the closest to my little town, erupted and quickly grew, thanks to the Santa Ana winds. We heard that our fire chief was worried it might pose a serious threat to our area, and the sight of a nearly black sky sent us into a frenzy of packing. I’m beyond grateful it ended up being more of a rehearsal run, and firefighters managed to get it under control before it caused any damage.

Smoke overtaking the sky

I’m feeling pretty emotionally drained. It’s hard to continue with business as usual when you’re constantly in a state of panic. Inconsistency has always been one of my biggest struggles, and because I’m actively trying to improve, I tend to be hard on myself whenever I feel like I’ve fallen short.

January 2025 has reminded me that life will always be unpredictable, and adaptability is key to staying consistent. I’d love to be more flexible and not resist any deviations from my plans. I’m so sick and tired of stressing and holding a grudge against any setbacks. My goal is to let go and fully trust divine timing – I welcome any advice or tips you may have!

Sincerely short,

Lwany

P.S. I’m deeply grateful for your continued understanding on my lack of consistency❣️

Nearly everything awesome takes longer than you think. Get started and don’t worry about the clock (or the result).

SHORT QUESTION

Q: I’m struggling to style wide-leg pants without a fitted top.

I’m newly postpartum, and I’d rather not highlight my midsection.

– Trish

A: It’s wild how fashion evolves. Not long ago, I would’ve suggested ways to balance out the width of wide-leg pants. But now, I say embrace the silhouette of the moment—baggy on baggy!

To keep the look elevated on a shorter frame, focus on these details:

  • Pointed-toe shoes: They create a lengthening effect.

  • Low, chunky heels: Just enough lift without sacrificing comfort.

  • Flowy fabrics: They move with you!
