I recently binged The Four Seasons, directed and starring the uber-stylish Colman Domingo. Just like in real life, his outfits on the show were amazing. I don’t typically draw inspiration from menswear, but his ensembles on the show changed that.

I was familiar with Domingo from his red carpet and runway appearances, so I knew he was a fashion guy, but he hadn’t inspired me until now. What kept me watching wasn’t the plot, but his character’s elevated take on everyday dressing.

Rich colors. Lush textures. Creative layering. Silhouettes that were either fitted or loose, never in between. Even the accessories (yes, including that ugly hat) completed each look flawlessly.

It made me realize that true style lives in life’s most mundane moments. A coffee run in the effortlessly cool pairing of a luxe pajama set with a structured jacket and loafers. The pajama top, worn as a button-up for errands. The bottoms, styled with a cozy sweater as a work-from-home alternative to sweats.
I’m guilty of neglecting the outfits I actually spend the most time in—pajamas, activewear, and comfies. I gravitate toward eye-candy pieces: beautiful, but often impractical or so precious I hesitate to wear them. I tend to save my style energy for special outings, while my day-to-day looks fall by the wayside.
But lately, I’m trying to shift that.
Domingo’s character encouraged me to keep upgrading my everyday wardrobe. Finding pieces that are both stylish and functional is already a challenge. Add the nuances of dressing a petite frame, and it’s Mission: Impossible.
